Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Bootstrapped Labs LTD ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Qurb mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.

We know how personal a reading habit with the Quran is. We will never sell your data or use it for advertising. We use it to understand how Qurb is used, to fix problems, and to make the App better.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

Qurb does not require an account. Your reading progress, streaks, daily goal, reading time, reminder settings, the apps you chose to lock, and the downloaded Quran text and audio are stored on your device. Reminders are scheduled on your device too; we do not run a server that sends them.

3. Information We Collect

To understand how Qurb is used and where it can improve, the App sends the following to our analytics provider, PostHog. It is linked to a random ID created when you install the App (shown in Settings as your Qurb ID), not to your Apple ID, email address or phone number.

  • What you tell us in onboarding: the name you enter, your gender, how you heard about Qurb, your goals, your daily phone time, your daily verse goal, reading time, reading preference, translation language and how strict you want Qurb to be.
  • Your settings: reminder switches, text size, whether notifications and Screen Time are allowed, and how many apps and categories you chose to lock (not which ones).
  • How you read: when reading sessions start and end, how many verses you read, whether you reached your daily goal, whether you used audio, your streaks, and your progress through the Quran.
  • How you use the App: screens you visit, features and buttons you use, onboarding steps, reminders you open, and when the App is opened and closed.
  • Your membership: whether you are on the free week, a trial or a paid plan, which plan you chose, and purchase, renewal and cancellation events.
  • Screen recordings: recordings of how you move through the App's screens, to help us find confusing screens and bugs. Anything you type is hidden in these recordings.
  • Errors and device details: crash and error reports, technical logs, app version, device model, operating system version and language.

We do not store your IP address.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • Understand how people use Qurb and where they get stuck
  • Improve the App's features, onboarding and reminders
  • Find and fix bugs and crashes
  • Process and verify your subscription
  • Help you when you contact us (your Qurb ID lets us find your data)
  • Comply with legal obligations

5. What We Do Not Do

  • We do not require you to create an account
  • We do not see which apps you have installed or chose to lock
  • We do not sell, rent or trade your data
  • We do not use your data for advertising
  • We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites

6. Third-Party Services

We share data only with these services, and only for the purposes above:

  • PostHog (servers in the EU): product analytics, screen recordings and error reports, as described in section 3.
  • RevenueCat: subscriptions and purchases through your App Store account. RevenueCat shares your subscription events with PostHog under the same random ID.
  • Quran.com API: Quran text, translations and audio recitations. We send no personal information to it.
  • Apple: payments through the App Store, and app locking through Screen Time.

Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy.

7. App Locking & Screen Time (iOS)

On iOS, Qurb uses Apple's Screen Time framework (FamilyControls) to lock the apps you choose. Apple keeps your choice on your device in a form we cannot read. We never see which apps you lock; we only record how many you chose.

8. Data Retention

Data on your device stays there until you uninstall the App, which deletes it. Screen recordings are kept for 30 days. Analytics events and error reports are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted.

9. Children's Privacy

Qurb is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us at info@tryqurb.com and we will delete it promptly.

10. Your Rights

You can:

  • See or delete your data: email us your Qurb ID (Settings, at the bottom) and we will send you a copy of the data linked to it, or delete it, within 30 days.
  • Delete the data on your device: uninstall the App.
  • Manage your subscription: cancel or change it at any time in your App Store account settings.

If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to object to or restrict how we use your data, and to complain to your local data protection authority. For any privacy request, contact us at info@tryqurb.com .

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App. The date of the last update is always shown at the top of this page.
